A+ to Z

Holy crap, Zambrano's good. Chicagosports dot com reported that, after tonight's 4 for 5 performance, Big Z's season average is higher than any Pirates starting position player. All that while throwing 7 innings of 4 hit baseball.

If the Cubs make it into October, it might be a good idea for Lou to start Zambrano in every game played... In all positions... Like Satchel Page on both sides of the plate.

Solid Gould

If you haven't already heard, Robbie Gould (with another year left on his contract) just became the highest paid kicker in the NFL. Maybe ever. He got $15.5 million until 2013 with a signing bonus of $4.25 million. I think Lovie still regrets calling that one timeout to end Gould's perfect streak. I suppose if Hester is switching to feature receiver, somebody has to score.

Archuleta Shown the Door

Too bad nobody showed him game film of the great Adam Archuleta and how he led Lovie Smith's impressive cover-2 defense back at St. Louis. Because we sure could have used a smart, mobile, veteran safety last year.

Incidentally, is Mike Brown's foot feeling better?
