Kid K Sera Sera

Pending the results of a physical it looks as if Kerry Wood will be a Cleveland Indian as early as tomorrow.

Maybe he and Joe Borowski can swap Larry Rothschild-hands-on-hips-while-crop-dusting-during-pregame-warm-up stories?

Who knows, if he works hard over the winter, Middle Aged K could strike out 20 batters in a single season.

Whatever will be will be, but I hope what will be will be Carlos Quentin taking the "good" half of Broke Arm Mountain deep into the Cleveland night for a few late-inning WhiteSOX winners next summer.

Not that I give a rat's ass about baseball, because it is a dumbass game for dumbasses, but Mr. Wood, in addition to being one of the better pitchers to pass through Chicago, is one of the finest human beings to call our town home. I'm just glad he's said he'll still make the City of Big Shoulders and bigger corruption his primary place of residence and continue to raise the scrilla for charity.

I think his charity work...the annual bowling tournament...the stuff he and his wife do is admirable and more than I will ever do for anyone ever. I think he loves the Cubs and loves Cub fans.

Based on what little I know about Woody the man, a world full of Woodies would be a much better one than a world full of edP's.

Re: Wood being one of the better pitchers to pass through Chicago...this is what I sort of mock here. I am not mocking your statement because I think saying he is one of the better pitchers, when healthy, we've seen in this town is a defensible position. But Kerry friggin Wood was reated like royalty and adored by many for all the wrong baseball reasons. He collected a bunch of money from the Cubs without much production in terms of wins during his big contract years as a starter...and while he is to be admired for taking less money the last few seasons because he seems to legitimately love the organization...I mock the other image of Wood as the next Roger Shrinking Lemmons based on one game against the Houston Astros.

Hope you had a safe trip back. How was Beer Butt?

Let's talk after the Sox face him a couple of times next year.
